Cooking is HOT! More and more weekend Gourmets are expanding their love of Good food to a love of cooking. Liaison College now has some great programs to help expand that passion and accomplish some great Team Building at the same time.
Check out some of our great new programs for you and your group. Some of our programs can be done at your location, so why not surprise the troops and brighten up a Tuesday afternoon!

Which daring Kitchen Challenge ingredients will teams face in this culinary showdown? The main ingredients you choose will be the foundation of an exciting 5-star gourmet meal!

The teams have 90 minutes to wield their culinary prowess and submit for judging a fully plated meal as well as extra portions of each dish for the group dinner afterwards. They are judged on taste, creativity and teamwork. In addition, to encourage team building, each team will elect an MVP for their team. MVPs win a cookbook
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with a beverage of your choice and hors d’œuvres. During the first half hour, guests have an opportunity to mingle, meet their chefs, and skim the extensive pantry to get their creative juices flowing. They will find cooking stations outfitted with kitchen equipment and tools, fresh produce cleaned and prepped, and tables set for an elegant sit-down dinner. We will stream music personalized to your group’s taste.
Once all your guests have arrived and are comfortably settled, your Lead Chef will kick-off the competition with an introduction to the Challenge, competition guidelines and rules of engagement. At this point, the chef will introduce the Challenge Ingredients you have selected. This is followed by an interactive cooking demonstration where your guests will learn kitchen tips and tricks and knife skills -- applicable to both the novice and the gourmet chef -- which they can use to get an edge against the competition, and for a lifetime. The guests are divided into teams - either predetermined by you or chosen by the chef.
Prior to the competition start bell, each team will have 10 minutes to confer, collaborate and strategize on the cuisine theme and carve out a menu that will shred and fry the competition. They will also whisk-up a catchy team name and choose a team leader. We encourage a divide-and-conquer strategy for the battle, so each team will form subgroups to tackle the protein, starch, vegetable and dessert. A professional chef is dedicated to each team as coach. We will also provide recipe packets, in case any team needs a dash of inspiration or prefers spoon-fed directions. The Lead Chef then rings the start bell for 60 minutes of competitive cooking and triggers the race to the pantry stocked with delectably fresh ingredients. (Will the items you need be there or is it back to the drawing board?!).
At the 60th minute, each team will present their entry -- a plate exhibiting all 3 components and complete with creative plate presentation, and a dessert -- for show and tell and judging submission. Each Team Leader is given a couple of minutes to sell and market the team’s creation. The teams will then proceed to plate and sit down to enjoy the 4-star gourmet meal they have whipped up. Our wait staff will ensure the best professional and top restaurant-quality service as your guests enjoy the fruits of their labor.
During the meal, the judges will assess the dishes submitted based on these criteria: taste, seasoning, appearance, texture as well as the originality of the dish, and plate presentation. There will be several category winners – best protein, best starch, best vegetable, best dessert and best plate presentation – and a grand overall winner. The Lead Chef will announce the MVP from each team at the end of the main course, and the category winners and winning team during dessert.
At Liaison College Kitchen Challenge, nobody gets a "You’re fired." Everybody gets fired up!
A culinary team building experience to unite your team members and learn more about each other through food preparation, cooking and dining together. Let this be your next breakfast, lunch or dinner!
Your group will not only challenge themselves, but they will challenge each other. We will have several stations where the group will have to show their prowess in a number of culinary challenges. These challenges will range from culinary trivia to hands on competition. Some samples of our competitions:
This can be done at your location or ours and is best with 12 or more participants.
This is a great ice breaker for any group, we take the hard part of menu design out and give each group a selection of recipes. The groups will choose their menu and get to work slicing, dicing, chop, grating and pureeing! If you want to make it even more interesting, we mix up the groups half way through and watch the creative ideas clash and the teams sort out their differences. Our chefs will judge the creations and award the winning team a great culinary prize.
Each team of course makes enough for everyone to enjoy and we can we can offer a formal wine tasting and pairing if you would like.
Get ready for the food to be flying as each team squares off against the competition to see who reigns supreme in the kitchen. You will get to choose your battleground, Italian, French, Mexican, Beef, Poultry, appetizers or BBQ.
During the cook-off chefs will race to complete a three course menu from the ingredients supplied. They will have to incorporate a secret ingredient into each course. Each team will have a consulting chef, that will guide you, but won’t do any of the cooking! If your team is really stuck, your chef can help you design your menu, but this will cost you a few points!
At the end of the competition, your panel of judges (or our panel) will taste, sample and critique to decide the winning team.
Each team will make enough of each of their dishes for everyone to have a meal! This challenge takes 2 – 3 hours.
Have you ever been in an uncomfortable situation at a business event?
This is a great exercise for anyone that needs to network with others in a business environment. We start with each team creating a series of Hors D’oeuvres and Canapés that everyone will get to enjoy. Our chefs will guide each group in creating some of the best canapés they have ever had.
Next we will get to enjoy our creations while we play a great game designed to teach your group all the social nuances of networking for business. The winner will receive a special prize that is sure to be the envy of the group.
